Text | Trapezoids are quadrilaterals characterized by the presence of two parallel sides.
Ordinary trapezoid We suppose to start from a sheet of any shape. 1. Make a valley fold, which will support the first side of the trapezoid. 2. Mark two points (called 1 and 2) on the fold you have just constructed. These two points will be the ends of the first side. 3. Make a valley fold passing through point 1. Mark the fold well. This second fold will be the support for the second side. 4. Make a valley fold passing through point 2. Mark the fold well. This third fold will be the support for the third side. 5. Mark the middle of the segment joining points 1 and 2. This point is called point 3. 6. Make a valley fold perpendicular to the first fold and passing through point 3. Mark the fold clearly. 7. Make a valley fold perpendicular to the last fold and cutting the second and third folds. Mark well. The difficulty is to choose a point on the perpendicular which has just been constructed. 7. Return the fold. We obtained a trapezoid. If paper overflows, simply fold it over to hide it by the trapezoidal face. Rectangle trapezoid To obtain a rectangular Trapezoid, simply build the second or third side perpendicular to the first side. |
