Text | A paper cocotte is good. Several cocottes cleverly arranged are better! Here's how to build a very pretty decorative tableau.
1. Prepare four square sheets of the same dimensions, two of one color, two of another. 2. Set aside two sheets of the same color, leaving them as squares. We will call them main sheets. 3. Prepare a base lined with a sheet of the second color. 4. Remove the triangular flaps by cutting them out and set this sheet aside, leaving it folded diagonally. We then obtain a new square whose dimensions are exactly what we need to continue. The fold on the diagonal is used to indicate that it is the second color. 5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 on the second sheet of the second color. We now have two sheets of the same color, of the initial size, and two sheets of another color, whose dimensions are half the initial dimensions. We will call them secondary sheets. 6. Take a square of the first color, fold a paper cocotte with it. 7. Take a square of the second color, fold a paper cocotte with it. We now have two paper cocottes, one large and one smaller. Each cocotte has two preferred locations, one under its head, the other behind its legs. 8. Glue the largest cocotte onto a fairly large sheet of paper. A sheet of A3 paper is very suitable for a table made from 21x21cm sheets (A4 cut into a square), or 29.7x29.7cm (A3 cut into a square). Space must be provided below and to the right of this cocotte. Its location must be chosen carefully because it determines everything else on the tableau. 9. Glue the second cocotte so that its head fits exactly under the head of the first. In doing so, the second cocotte is rotated 45 degrees relative to the first. 10. Take the second sheet of the first color, cut it into quarters using the middles. We obtain four squares of half the dimensions of the starting sheet. 11. Fold a cocotte into one of the squares, stick it under the head of the last cocotte put in place. This cocotte will be rotated 45 degrees from the last one in place. 12. Take the second sheet of the second color, cut it into quarters using the middles. We obtain four squares of half the dimensions of the starting sheet. Keep them folded on a diagonal to identify the second color. 13. Fold a cocotte into one of the squares, stick it under the head of the last cocotte put in place. This cocotte will be rotated 45 degrees from the last one in place. We see that a sort of spiral is beginning to take shape. 14. Continue the process described from step 10 to step 13 each time using one of the remaining squares, alternating the two colors. The cocottes are getting smaller and smaller, and the game is to go as far as possible! 15. With the remaining colored squares, you can build a second set of cocottes using the space located under the belly of the second cocotte. We obtain a pretty tabeeau that will intrigue your friends. This is a great gift in perspective! |
