Text | Folding this traditional boat deserves a tip of the hat before you even begin!
1. Start from complete folding of the elementary hat. 2. Continue the opening movement until the shape is completely flattened. We then obtain a square shape, with a very thick point at the top, and another point at the bottom, but which opens in two flaps. 3. Fold the lower front free point upwards into a valley to reach a point below the upper point, on the axis of the point. Mark the fold well. The distance between the raised tip and the upper tip is the height of the future sail. 5. Flip the fold from right to left. 6. Fold the lower front free point upwards into a valley to reach a point located below the upper point, on the axis of the point. Mark the fold well. Just align yourself with the lower edge of the rear flap, fold obtained in the previous step. We now have a polygon with 5 sides. 7. Open this polygon by sliding a finger into the bottom opening, and continue the movement to completely flatten the shape. We again obtain a 5-sided polygon with a point pointing upwards. If we follow the sides on either side of this point, we can identify two left and right points which move away from each other, then, still following the edges, two lower points left and right which come closer to each other. We thus have a shape composed of an upper triangle and a trapezoid. 8. Fold the two free lower trapezius upwards, one forward, the other backward. Release the pressure a little, to reveal two points which deviate slightly to the left and to the right 9. Gently spread these two tips as far as possible. 10. Open the fold slightly from below, so that it stands upright. We obtain a sailing boat, whose sail extends beyond the top of the hull. |
