Text | This folding is made up of two parts: a handle and the body of the basket itself. We use two sheets of paper of the same size. One of the two will be cut to form a strip.
Making the handle. 1. Take one of the two sheets, place it in the vertical edge position. Fold it in half on the horizontal middle, then in half again. Unfold, and cut out a strip which represents a rectangle which is a quarter of the initial sheet. Place this rectangle in a horizontal position. 2. Form a valley fold by bringing the upper edge of the rectangle from top to bottom on the lower edge (fold on the horizontal median). We obtain a rectangular shape bordered at the top by a hinge fold which links two single-thickness flaps. 3. Form a valley fold by bringing the lower edge of the front flap from bottom to top on the hinge edge. Mark well. 4. Flip the fold from right to left. 5. Form a valley fold by bringing the lower edge of the front flap from bottom to top on the hinge edge. Mark well. 6. Open the fold by pivoting around the hinge fold. Continue the movement to close the fold. We now have a narrow strip of quadruple thickness. Mark the folds carefully to make it as thin as possible. Making the basket 1. Fold a preliminary base. Hold it with the closed tip down. 2. Form a valley fold by bringing the upper tip of the front flap up and down over the closed tip. Mark the fold clearly. Pay attention to the junctions with the two left and right corners. A hinge fold connects these two corners. 3.Locate the middle of the fold connecting the left and right middle corners. 4. Form a valley fold by bringing the lower point of the front flap from bottom to top on the midpoint that you have just identified. Mark the fold clearly, which must be perfectly parallel to the middle fold. We have just formed a small triangular flap with one vertex facing up 5. Slide the lower end of the strip of paper prepared at the beginning under the small triangular flap. Hold it in a vertical position, press it firmly on the lower hinge fold of the flap. The top point of the flap should be in the middle of the strip. 6. Form a valley fold by bringing the lower hinge edge of the triangle from bottom to top on the middle fold, also folding the strip underneath. Care must be taken to hold the strip in place. This step will allow you to block the strip which will then allow you to form a handle. 7. Flip the fold from right to left. We find a large front flap, with a free point at the top. 8. Form a valley fold by bringing the upper tip of the front flap up and down over the closed tip. Mark the fold clearly. Pay attention to the junctions with the two left and right corners. A hinge fold connects these two corners. 9. Locate the middle of the fold connecting the left and right middle corners. 10. Form a valley fold by bringing the lower point of the front flap from bottom to top on the midpoint that you have just identified. Mark the fold clearly, which must be perfectly parallel to the middle fold. We have just formed a small triangular flap with one vertex facing up. 11. Take the upper end of the excess strip, bring it without marking the fold, passing over the flaps which partly hide it, and slide it under the small triangular flap. Apply this end firmly to the lower hinge fold of the flap. The upper point of the flap must be in the middle of the strip. 12. Form a valley fold by bringing the lower hinge edge of the triangle from bottom to top on the middle fold, also folding the strip underneath. Care must be taken to hold the strip in place. - We now have a handle firmly in place, we will have to open the basket The folding is always flat, except for the handle which should not be flattened. It has the shape of a square in a diamond position. We can notice that the left and right front flaps hide left and right rear flaps, the whole forming a kind of pocket on each sid 13.Locate the middle of the line that connects the two left and right middle corners. This point is in the middle of the handle. 14. Form a valley fold by leading the middle right corner from right to left to the midpoint that we have just identified. Lightly mark the fold. 15.Form a valley fold by bringing the middle left corner from left to right on the midpoint. All you have to do is bring it exactly opposite the corner that you folded in the previous step. Lightly mark the fold. 16. Unfold the two flaps that you have just formed. Reverse the two valley folds into mountain folds, so as to slide the left flap inside the left pocket, the right flap inside the right pocket. Mark the folds strongly. 17. Flip the fold from right to left. 18. Form a valley fold by leading the middle right corner from right to left to the midpoint. Just align with the vertical edge hidden behind. Lightly mark the fold. 19. Form a valley fold by leading the middle left corner from left to right on the midpoint. Just align with the vertical edge hidden behind. Lightly mark the fold. 20. Unfold the two flaps that you have just formed. Reverse the two valley folds into mountain folds, so as to slide the left flap inside the left pocket, the right flap inside the right pocket. Mark the folds strongly. We now have a 6-sided shape, made up of a lower point connected by two vertical sides to an upper point, slightly hidden by the handle. 21. Locate the horizontal line that joins the left and right corners of the lower tip. 22. Bring the bottom tip up through a valley fold connecting the left and right corners of the bottom tip. Unfold and change the valley fold to a mountain fold. Repeat several times. Return to the initial position. 23. By placing your fingers inside the shape and gently pulling, gently open the basket. The bottom goes up, to align with the folds that we prepared in the previous step. Place the two large points that open firmly on the sides of the basket. There is one to the right and one to the left of the basket. 24. Fold the right tip from top to bottom towards the inside of the basket, resting on the top of the right edge of the basket. Mark the fold clearly to place it as closely as possible on the inside wall of the basket. 25. Continuing to place the tip on the wall of the basket, mark the line that separates the right wall of the basket from the bottom. Fold the tip a second time from right to left upwards following this line. Mark the fold well, but leave the tip pressed against the bottom. 26. Repeat the operations of step 24 and step 25 on the left point. 27. Finish shaping the handle by trying to round it. Here is a pretty basket that just needs to be filled with gifts. |
