Text | Famous model, one of Saburo Kase's favorites. Very simple, it has a beautiful expressive
force. 1. Take a square sheet of paper, hold it in diamond position. 2. Fold the horizontal diagonal into a valley, bringing the lower vertex over the upper vertex. We have a triangular shape of double thickness. The lower edge of the triangle is made up of a hinge fold. 3. Using a valley fold, fold the triangle in half by bringing the lower left vertex over the lower right vertex. Mark the fold well. Unfold. We constructed a fold passing through the upper vertex and through the middle of the lower side of the triangle. 4. Flip the fold from right to left. We obtain a triangular shape whose lower horizontal side is a hinge fold, and which has a mountain fold joining the upper vertex to the middle of the hinge fold. 5. Using an oblique valley fold from left to right, bring the lower left corner to the upper vertex. 6. Using an oblique valley fold from right to left, bring the lower right corner to the upper vertex. We obtain a square shape of quadruple thickness, carrying on top two triangular flaps of double thickness. A vertical slot separates the two flaps. 7. Flip the fold from right to left. We obtain a smooth square shape, in diamond position. 8. Fold the square in half, using the valley fold that joins the lower vertex to the upper vertex. We obtain a triangular shape with, on the left, two points and, on the right, three edges meeting at the lower vertex of the triangle. 9. Rotate the triangle 45 degrees, so that one side of the two points is horizontal. We obtain a triangle whose vertical left side has three points upwards. The middle point is free at the bottom of the fold, the outer points each form a kind of pocket. The lower horizontal side of the triangle is formed by two edges meeting at the lower right vertex of the triangle. The third side, oblique, is formed by three hinge folds. 10. Through all layers, form a valley fold parallel to the left edge of the triangular shape. Mark the fold well. Unfold. There is no benchmark. This fold will form the legs and head of the fox. It should not be too far from the left edge. 11. Insert a finger inside the central tip. Using the valley fold of step 10, fold the three layers of paper strongly to the right. The center point lowers, do not flatten it. 12. Press lightly on the central tip to force it downwards a little. The two outer points form the ears, the central point forms the fox's head. 13. Using a vertical valley fold, fold the lower right vertex of the triangle atapproximately a right angle to the left. There is no reference point. And here is a shape that irresistibly reminds us of a pretty little fox. By varying the folds of steps 10 or steps 13, you can obtain different foxes, but all very cute. |
